Jarrett Construction Services, Inc. Offices - Capito House Historical Renovations
Charleston, WV - Completed 2006
Originally built in 1906 as a residence for one of Charleston’s wealthiest families, this historic home later served as headquarters for the Red Cross Central Chapter of West Virginia. The home had fallen into a state of general disrepair when a local construction services firm purchased it in 2001 with the intent of restoring the structure and using it as an office building. Edward Tucker Architects, Inc. was hired to ensure the historical accuracy of the renovations as well as perform a code study to bring the structure into compliance with current building and fire codes. The project scope also included a new construction vehicle garage, and a new handicapped accessible ramp. ETA also provided interior design services, selecting historically accurate interior paint colors, light fixtures and finishes.
