Cabell Huntington Hospital - Emergency Room Expansion and Renovations
Huntington, West Virginia - Completed 2002
Cabell Huntington Hospital selected Edward Tucker Architects, Inc. to design a complete renovation of its 15,300 s.f. Level II Trauma Center’s emergency care and immediate care units. Due to an increasing patient load, additional space and efficiency were needed. The new design maximizes treatment space functionality, optimizes traffic flow patterns and increases the visibility of the patients from the nurses’ station. Capacity was increased from 5 to 8 treatment rooms in immediate care and from 14 to 19 treatment rooms in the emergency suite. Also included in the project were enlarged waiting and triage spaces, a dedicated X-ray suite, and improved security monitoring.
