Originally from Huntington, West Virginia, Edward Tucker graduated from the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor of Architecture degree in 1982. From 1983 to 1990, he worked in Nashville, TN, gaining licensure in 1986. Working with two firms during this time, his responsibilities grew with an emphasis on project management. In 1990, he switched to the role of representing the Owner by working for Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Campus Planning. While at Vanderbilt, he was responsible for constructed projects in the Medical Center totaling over 40 million dollars. He also was nominated for and completed Vanderbilt’s Leadership Development Forum in 1994.
In 1995, he returned to Huntington to join the firm of Dean and Dean, Inc. Architects. The basis of this association was a plan for ownership transition, which took place in 1996. Since that time, the firm of Edward Tucker Architects, Inc. has earned the trust of public, private and community related clients in the Tri-State region. Edward has led the firm in establishing relationships with repeat clientele such as Marshall University, Cabell Huntington Hospital, Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine, Alcon Laboratories, Federal Express Corporation, Cabell County Public Library, HealthSouth Inc. and many area churches. Edward manages the firm’s overall operations with a focus on design and quality control.
In 2007 Edward was elected as Regional Director of the Virginias and will serve a three year term on the national board of the AIA. His past AIA positions include President, Director, Vice President and Director-Past President of the West Virginia Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. He also currently serves on the Boards of the Tri-State Council - Boy Scouts of America, Huntington Symphony Orchestra, and is Chair of Church Council at the Beverly Hills United Methodist Church. He has served on the City of Huntington's Historical Commission, the Board of Directors of Huntington's Habitat for Humanity, was Chair of the City of Huntington Board of Code Appeals, Huntington Rotary Club, and has chaired several church committees. Edward resides in Huntington with his wife Lynn. Their son Christoper attends Case Western Reserve. |
